Profile Visibility and Privacy
Winklr gives you full control over what others can see and how discoverable you are. Here is everything you need to know about profile visibility, privacy, and the Glances feature.
Previewing your public profile
Before making changes, you can see exactly how your profile appears to others. On the Edit Profile screen, tap the eye icon in the header to open a live preview of your public profile.
What others can see
When someone views your profile, they may see the following:
- Name and age (displayed as exact age, an age range, or hidden depending on your Show Age setting)
- Profile photos and videos in a swipeable media slider
- Bio and status message (with timer if set)
- Social links (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube)
- Persona tabs showing persona bio, stats, looking for, meet at, languages, and interest tags
- Online indicator and last active time
- Distance (if location sharing is enabled)
What stays private
The following information is never shown to other users:
- Your email address
- Your date of birth (only your age is shown, and only if enabled)
- Your real name (if different from your display name)
Discovery mode
Discovery mode controls whether your profile appears on the radar and whether you can browse other profiles.
- Go to Settings > Discovery.
- Toggle discovery on or off.
When discovery is turned off:
- Your profile is hidden from the radar and will not appear to other users.
- You cannot browse other profiles while discovery is off.
- Existing conversations are not affected.
You can turn discovery back on at any time.
Glances - who viewed your profile
The Glances screen shows you who has recently viewed your profile.
- Navigate to Glances from the main menu.
- Browse the list of people who have viewed your profile.
- Use the filter chips to narrow the list:
- All - Everyone who viewed your profile
- Favourites - People you have favourited
- New - First-time viewers
- Returning - People who have viewed you more than once
- 12hrs / 24hrs / 3 days - Filter by time period
Glances update in real time, and views are automatically marked as read when you leave the screen.
Turning Glances on or off
You can disable the Glances feature entirely from Settings > Discovery.
Glances is two-directional. If you turn Glances off, other users will not see that you viewed their profile -- but you will also lose the ability to see who has viewed yours.
