Message Read Receipts

Read receipts let you know when someone has seen your message, shown as a double-tick indicator in the chat.

How read receipts work

When you send a message, you will see a double-tick appear once the recipient has read it. This gives you a clear signal that your message has been seen.

Mutual opt-in requirement

Read receipts on Winklr work on a mutual opt-in basis. This means the double-tick indicator only appears when both you and the other person have read receipts enabled. If either person has turned read receipts off, neither side will see read status for that conversation.

Enabling or disabling read receipts

To change your read receipt setting:

1. Go to Settings > Chat.
2. Toggle "Show my read receipts" on or off.

When you disable read receipts:

• Other people will no longer see when you have read their messages.
• You will also no longer see when others have read your messages (since the feature requires both parties to opt in).

This setting applies to all of your conversations.

Typing indicators

Winklr also shows typing indicators in real time. When someone is composing a message to you, you will see a status indicator in the chat letting you know they are typing. Similarly, the other person can see when you are typing a reply.

Notes

• Read receipt preferences can be changed at any time and take effect immediately.
• Typing and recording status indicators are shown automatically and cannot be turned off separately.
