Set Up a Passkey
Winklr uses passwordless sign-in. That means you can sign in with a passkey, or with Google or Apple sign-in where available, instead of creating and remembering a Winklr password.
A passkey is a secure sign-in method saved by your phone, computer, or password manager. When you sign in, you unlock your device with Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint, face unlock, PIN, or screen lock.
What you need
Before setting up a passkey, check that:
- Your device has a screen lock, PIN, fingerprint, or face unlock set up.
- You are using a recent version of iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Firefox.
- You are setting up the passkey on a device you personally own and control.
- Your password manager or device account is available, such as iCloud Keychain on Apple devices or Google Password Manager on Android.
Do not create a passkey on a shared phone, tablet, or computer.
Set up a passkey in Winklr
- Open Winklr.
- Choose the passkey sign-in option when prompted.
- Confirm the email or account you want to use.
- Follow your device prompt to create the passkey.
- Unlock your device with Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint, face unlock, PIN, or screen lock.
- Wait for Winklr to confirm that the passkey has been saved.
The exact wording may vary depending on your phone, browser, or password manager.
If you use an iPhone, iPad, or Mac
Apple stores passkeys in iCloud Keychain so they can be available across Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
To use passkeys on Apple devices, Apple says iCloud Keychain and two-factor authentication must be turned on.
Useful Apple guides:
If you use Android
Android can save passkeys in Google Password Manager or another supported password manager. You will usually create and use the passkey by confirming your device screen lock, fingerprint, face unlock, PIN, or pattern.
Useful Google guides:
- Sign in to applications and websites with passkeys on Android
- Sign in with a passkey instead of a password for your Google Account
Google or Apple sign-in
If you choose Google or Apple sign-in, your Google or Apple account handles the sign-in step. Winklr does not receive your Google or Apple password.
Make sure the Google or Apple account you use is one you can still access. If you lose access to that account, you may need to recover it through Google or Apple before you can sign back in.
If something does not work
- No passkey option appears - Check that your device, browser, and password manager support passkeys.
- Your device asks for a screen lock - Set up a PIN, fingerprint, face unlock, or pattern first, then try again.
- You are on a shared device - Stop and use your own device instead.
- You changed phones - Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account, Google Account, or password manager that saved the passkey.
- You cannot access Google or Apple sign-in - Use the recovery options from Google or Apple for that account.
If you are still stuck, contact Winklr support and include the device type you are using.
