Reporting a User
If someone violates Winklr's Community Guidelines, you can report them for review by our team. There are two ways to submit a report, depending on where you are in the app.
Reporting from a profile
- Open the person's profile.
- Tap the options menu.
- Tap Report.
- Select a category (see below) and enter details describing what happened.
- Tap Report to submit.
Reporting from a chat
- Open the chat with the person you want to report.
- Open the Chat Info panel.
- Find the Report section.
- Select a category and enter details describing what happened.
- Tap Submit Report.
Report categories
When filing a report, choose the category that best describes the issue:
- Child safety concern — anything involving the safety of a minor (see Child Safety)
- Inappropriate content
- Harassment
- Spam
- Impersonation
- Self-harm or suicide concern
- Other
In the details field, provide as much context as you can. Specific details help our team investigate more quickly.
What happens after you report someone?
- Your report is sent to our moderation team for review.
- Action is taken based on the severity of the violation, up to and including permanent removal from Winklr.
- Your report is anonymous -- the reported user will not know who filed the report.
When to report vs. when to block
- Report when someone is violating Community Guidelines -- for example, posting inappropriate content, harassing others, running scams, or impersonating someone. Reporting helps us keep the entire community safe.
- Block when you simply want to stop someone from contacting you or appearing in your feed. Blocking is instant and takes effect immediately.
- You can do both. Reporting someone does not automatically block them, so if you also want to stop all contact, block them separately.
