Blocking a User
If someone is making you uncomfortable, you can block them at any time. There are two ways to block a user on Winklr, depending on where you are in the app.
Blocking from a profile
- Open the person's profile.
- Tap the options menu.
- Tap Block and confirm when prompted.
Blocking from a chat
- Open the chat with the person you want to block.
- Open the Chat Info panel.
- Tap Block User and confirm when prompted.
What happens when you block someone?
When you block a user, the following takes effect immediately:
- Hidden from Discovery -- they will no longer appear in your feed, and you will not appear in theirs.
- Cannot contact you -- they will not be able to send you any messages.
- Shared content removed -- any shared photo albums between you are removed.
- No notification -- the blocked user is not told that you have blocked them.
Device-level blocking
Winklr uses device-level blocking, which means the block persists even if the person creates a new account on the same device. This provides stronger protection than account-based blocking alone.
Viewing blocked accounts and unblocking
To view or unblock accounts you have blocked:
- Go to Settings > Security > Blocked Accounts.
- You will see a list of all profiles you have blocked.
- Select the profile you want to unblock and tap Unblock.
