Child Safety Standards
Effective date: 16 June 2026
Winklr ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Winklr mobile application (the "App"), an adults-only social and dating service. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This page sets out our standards for preventing, detecting, and responding to CSAE, in line with Google Play's child safety standards policy and applicable law.
1. Winklr Is for Adults Only (18+)
Winklr is strictly for users aged 18 and over. Minors are not permitted to create an account or use the App under any circumstances.
- Age verification at registration. Every new user must pass age verification (powered by Yoti) before they can access the App. Yoti estimates the user's age from a face scan and returns only a pass/fail against the 18+ requirement; the scan is discarded immediately after verification.
- Immediate removal of suspected minors. If we become aware that a user is, or is suspected to be, under 18, their account is terminated immediately and their data is deleted.
2. What We Prohibit
We define CSAE in line with Google Play's child safety standards and applicable law. The following are strictly prohibited on Winklr, will result in immediate removal and a permanent ban, and — where they constitute CSAM or other illegal conduct — will be reported to the relevant authorities:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — any image, video, or other depiction of a minor engaged in or presented in a sexually explicit manner, including computer-generated, AI-generated, or otherwise synthetic depictions.
- Sexualisation of minors — any content that sexualises, or appears to sexualise, a person under 18.
- Grooming and solicitation — contacting, befriending, or attempting to build a relationship with a minor for the purpose of sexual abuse or exploitation, and any solicitation of CSAM.
- Sextortion — threatening to share, or sharing, a minor's intimate imagery to coerce them.
- Child trafficking — any advertising, facilitation, or solicitation of the trafficking of a minor.
- Off-platform facilitation — using Winklr to enable, link to, or arrange any of the above on or off the platform.
These prohibitions apply to all content and conduct, including profiles, photos, videos, albums, display names, bios, and messages.
3. How We Prevent and Detect CSAE
- Age assurance. Mandatory 18+ age verification (Yoti) blocks minors at the point of registration.
- Automated content moderation. Uploaded photos and videos are automatically reviewed for inappropriate and illegal content (using AWS Rekognition) before and after they appear on the platform.
- Human review. Reports and content flagged by our automated systems are reviewed by our team, who can remove content and ban accounts.
- Device-level blocking. Banned users are blocked at the device level to prevent them from circumventing enforcement by creating new accounts.
- Reporting and blocking tools. Every user can report and block any other user or piece of content directly from within the App.
4. How to Report Child Safety Concerns
If you encounter content or behaviour on Winklr that involves the sexual abuse or exploitation of a minor, please report it to us immediately. We review every child safety report as a priority.
4.1 In the App
Use the Report and Block options available on any user profile or message. Reports are sent directly to our moderation team.
4.2 By Email
You can also report concerns, including CSAM, directly to our child safety team at safety@winklr.app. This inbox is monitored and serves as our published point of contact for child safety matters.
4.3 To the Authorities
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. You can also report child sexual abuse material directly to the relevant authority in your country, including:
- United Kingdom — the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) and the CEOP Safety Centre.
- United States — the NCMEC CyberTipline.
5. What Happens When CSAE Is Reported
When we receive a credible report of CSAE, or our systems detect it, we will:
- Remove the offending content from the platform.
- Permanently ban the responsible account and block the associated device.
- Preserve relevant evidence as required by law.
- Report CSAM and other illegal conduct to the appropriate authorities — such as the NCMEC CyberTipline, the Internet Watch Foundation, and/or law enforcement — and cooperate with their investigations.
6. Legal Compliance
We comply with applicable child safety laws and regulations in the jurisdictions in which we operate, and with the Google Play and Apple App Store child safety policies. We are committed to combating CSAE across our service and to cooperating with child protection organisations and law enforcement.
7. Point of Contact
Our designated point of contact for child safety concerns, including reports of CSAE and CSAM, is:
- Email: safety@winklr.app
8. Changes to These Standards
We may update these Child Safety Standards from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top of this page indicates when they were last revised.
